LO3 Apply audio editing
We used audio transition effects such as constant power and constant gain as a way to transition the sound and music we used in our film. We did this because it helped the music and audio to flow well within the film so it didn't sound like the audio levels were dropping and rising constantly, it gave a nice effect and allowed audio to be heard with the music being at a good level. We used horror sounds to connote horror and to add thrill to the film itself, we did this at certain parts of the film where action was happening and bad things were going on, this is to over exaggerate the fact so the audience feel the horror and thrill more.
We used adobe Audition to remove the ambient sound that the mic was picking up we then added our own sound to make the clip sound and look more fluid. We did this because the original sound wasn't as clean or smooth because we didnt have a wind muffler of the mic, and wasnt sounding as we wanted it to sound so getting free audio sounds that's fitted well to the clip was our best option to get the best audio.
We added a lot of extra audio clips where people who weren't allowed to talk, talked and where the wind was very heavy causing a lot of noise. We also cut down the the audio of these parts using EQ in adobe Audition finding what frequency that sound was happing at and then dropping the sound down for that certain frequency cutting down the audio that wasn't meant to be there and keeping the other parts that we needed. This is a website called Freesounds.org its a website where you can get royalty free sounds and in our short film we used a lot of sounds from this website such as the police sirens you hear at the end of scene 1 and other sounds such as whispers and footsteps. This site is a brilliant way to get a sound that you can't personally achieve.
This video is a dubbing video for the sound we have at the start of the very first scene we did this because the original audio wasn't very good because you couldn't hear the phone calls after we did this dubbing it came out really well and looks really natural even though its not though it's not the original audio. The new audio is very clear and crisp and this is because we used the iPhone 13 microphone which is incredibly high quality. in the final product we added some quiet wind effects that are loud enough to notice but quiet enough to let the audio be heard clearly we added this sound because the character is outside and we wanted it to still sound realistic as you would hear some ambient noise while outside.
